Very wise advice! Thank you sharing your wisdom and for making videos to help people learn how to live without running water and electricity. Your ideas go beyond basic survival skills and demonstrate how you can live joyfully close to nature with a lot less. As our basic institutions (political, finanical, medical, etc) are collapsing around us, we all need to think about new ways to live and help our children. Even small steps to sustainabile living are better than doing nothing.

We have been off grid for 1.5 years and we love it, but we bought a DIY solar package from Signature solar in Texas, so we do have electricity.... Its crazy blasting the air conditioner during the summer and know we have no bill anymore!!! I think you'd be happy with the air conditioners if you get solar and batteries at least 😀 it's a few thousand up front but less than a new car (if you go the diy route)

I have the camper shower setup which drops into a bucket of your fave temp water and uses a USB rechargeable battery. Works well enough for my long hair. I can shower with 5 or so gallons easily. Maybe not the easiest but I also have the aluminum tubs and a wash board for laundry and hang stuff out to dry. It works well enough. Maybe you could find a municipal water source and fill a tank? Water is the hardest for me too.

Wow! I'm only 9 minutes into the video but I'm really shocked at how brainwashed and conditioned people are. How do they think human being survived for thousands of years? Yet we have become so dependent and incapable. It's almost like a Godless mindset. Just like the animals, we already have everything we need to live and thrive in nature. People are merely paying for conveniences, but they have confused them for needs.

Foraging is a good skill. You can eat or medicinally use sooo many of the "weeds" that grow in your yard and the woods.

I’ve been slowing buying things for off grid living. Sadly my parents (who have more money saved) aren’t on board but I’m still doing it for us. A wood burning oven will be my next big purchase. I’m excited for off grid living 🙌

Something that I have to do is to - - Reorganize what you have. You may create more space, and or see what you can re use in a different way. At the very least, your space will give you the change that you crave!😊

We also live in a small city of 1600 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. When we bought our livable fixer upper we also dealt with a shortage of service workers as well. I just kept calling and asking. We got lucky and within 3 weeks to a month we had our new roof, a furnace, and hot water tank. One thing I found out was we were not able to get insurance on out house if we only had a wood heater whether it was a stove or fireplace. We had to have some type of furnace. I am not sure if that is area specific or not.

Have lived without electricity... Tis a convenience. On the bright side if across board you need not commute... doesn't negate bills but how to collect. You can't get there from here... Solar...? Live in a place where the sun don't shine as many as 29 days out of 30... have gas mine own oversize tank. Easy a more than year supply without pesky furnace... Heat would be issue, have wood and stove but no chimney, but hand saw and maul. Gas stove than becomes furnace... C02 be darned... house leaks air like a sieve. As a child of post war vintage... took baths in inch of water heated on the stove. AC is my nemesis... never liked it even in Desert SW. Canner does not use electric... then there is that well, surrounded by lake, river and stream, even swamp in a pinch. There is that can on a string down the well pipe, what else you got too do anyway.

WE ARE LIVING IN AMERICA BEYOND WHATS NORMAL. A HOUSE FOR A SINGLE FAMILY 500K. THATS A SCAM AND UNFORTUNATLEY SOME MIDDLE CLASS FAMILIES FALL FOR THE SCAMS! LIVING OFF GRID TAKES EXTRA EFFORT, BUT IT MAY JUST BE WORTH THE EFFORT?

I plan to exit CA and move to Georgia or Tennesee buy a acre or so of land and a arched cabin and homestead with my boy. As a single mom it’s a long shot and no one else in my family or friend group is interested in homesteading. It’s my life and passion. I just feel such a pull to it and I’m following that. I think God has been guiding me into it for awhile. But it’s going to be such a big scary cha ge. I buy my groceries weekly but shop thru the store app based on the menus I plan. Then I pick them up, never going into the store. No more impulse buying!

Some land has restrictions in its deed prescribing the structures, rv's (or no rv's), animals, and uses of the property. Ask a title company or Realtor for best means to obtain those covenants of restrictions *before* you purchase the property - unless you love surprises lol 💥🤯

I lived off-grid 4.5 years in the 90s. Loved it. Hard but rewarding. You appreciate the finer things in life.

Owning your own home is still worth it to those of us who are debt free. I like getting by as cheap as possible. A double wide on a couple acres and a truck I bought new 18 years ago is all I need. The new home and new car prices certainly aren’t worth it in today’s market.

Just be careful living in the RV with kids. My sister took her ex to court for custody. He lived in the Chesapeake, VA area. He was living in an RV and my niece was living at his moms, but was going to move in the him in the RV (it was a big new nice RV he got with insurance after their house had a fire). The RV had nothing to do with why my sister was taking him to court for custody. But after the courts found out he lived in an RV they said it’s not legal in VA (I thought. Unless it’s county specific) for kids to live in an RV. So they said my niece could not live with him and the court actually made her dad, her dads mom (her Grandma) and my sister all 3 as her guardians, but with her living with her Grandma since they said it’s not legal for her as a child to live in an RV.

We got a car cooler. Stays nice and cold off of a battery.

We've actually had alot of practice. Its not that bad. It just takes a bit more effort getting the water and cooking/cleaning. It really does take alot more time.
